I Believe we all have gifts.  I have come to understand one of my many gifts is the understanding of energy surrounding me. I feel energy everywhere I go.  I sense the changes, therefor I believe I am empathic.  This is a newer discovery of myself, since I have spent quite a lot of time thinking, and thinking and then thinking some more. I must say I am very excited about diving more closely into these ideas and new concepts so I can share them with others.   I have always believed in Energies, angels, Spirits, Guides, and God(s). The other day I received a message that was undeniable.

In July of 2014, I lost my dear friend, Chris Cain to Suicide.  I met Chris in 2007 at the Westchester Conservatory.  He was a vocal coach in the area, and I attended the show because I was playing the piano for one of his students.  I was blown away because every student sounded amazing.  I thought to myself “I need to study with him.”  So..I took home his refrigerator magnet business card ( which I still have magnetized) and began lessons.  A few years down the road, I began working for him as his accompanist for his studio! We became very close.  During our time together, we would drink a lot of coffee, but my favorite thing to do was talk about classical piano together.  So Chris suggested we play four hand Piano Pieces and he went and bought 5 books consisting of Schubert, Schumann, and Mozart.  Chris and I would sight read through these pieces and pick the ones that sounded the best to us.  Every piece we played sounded amazing due to the fact that we were playing a beautiful Bechstein.  I recorded us playing on my old iPhone.  After his passing I accidentally dropped that phone in a toilet.

Yesterday during the rain,  I was cleaning out my closet, and I was thinking how I love organ music. I turned on some organ pieces and just began to listen.  Here is where it gets strange.  I saw on youtube these two identical twins and happened to click on it because I was thinking how four handed classical piano was so cool. Chris was on my mind.  I clicked on the video unknowingly it was the exact piece that Chris and I played several times over.  I knew he was saying hi from above.

I miss you Chris. Everyday I think of you.  Thank you for coming to visit me in my books, and music and song.  I will play your Cd today.  I know you.

  1. I stumbled across this post. I found myself missing Chris a little extra today, and when I googled his name your post was one of the first pages to come up. I was his student since 2009 and he was the first and last vocal teacher I ever felt like I clicked with. I viewed him as a mentor and still think about him often. I just wanted to say that your post made me smile. I hope you’re doing well. I miss him too.
